€10m Hospitality Development Gets Green Light In Santry, Dublin

A €10 million development on the site that was once home to the Swiss Cottage pub in Santry, Dublin, will go ahead after planning permission was recently granted.

According to Dublin City Council, as reported by DublinLive.ie, it will see the premises being redeveloped into a three-story mixed use structure, comprising of a retail/commercial unit, a takeaway unit on the ground floor, a two-story restaurant/cafe, a retail convenience/discount food store which will include an off-license, as well as 277 square metres for office accommodation.

Councillor Noeleen Reilly hopes the development will reinvigorate the area and provide employment, saying that it "has been run down for a number of years now so any improvement is welcome, providing residents are consulted during construction works."

She added that the frequent closures of pubs and restaurants between Santry and Ballymun in recent years has been "disappointing from a social and economic aspect."
