Pre-Tax Losses Increase 48.5% At Boojum Parent Company

New figures filed by Boojum parent company Modern Restaurant Concepts Ltd have revealed that the firm's pre-tax losses increased 48.5% to €970,778 during the 53 weeks that ended on April 28, 2019.

Meanwhile, the company's revenues rose 28.5% to €23.72 million; its Republic of Ireland sales increased 36.5% to €16.29 million; its Northern Irish sales increased 14% to €7.42 million; the number of people employed by the company increased from 422 to 444; staff costs increased from €6.4 million to €8.32 million; earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) remained level at €2 million; operating profits before exceptional items decreased 71.5% to €212,153; and the company's exceptional costs amounted to €904,005 during the period.

The company's exceptional items arose from pre-opening costs of €212,284, other non-recurring items of €314,852 and the impairment of fixed assets of €376,869, as reported by rte.ie.
